Wednesday evening, Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Beaumont United's Terrance Arceneaux has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Coogs.

At 6'7", 180, Arceneaux was listed as a 4-star recruit by ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals and was the No. 70 player nationally in the ESPN 100 and No. 39 player nationally in the 247Sports rankings. The Beaumont, Texas, native was ranked as the No. 10 small forward by Rivals, No. 12 by 247Sports and No. 16 by ESPN.

Arceneaux, who played for Head Coach David Green at Beaumont United HS, chose Houston after being recruited by Oklahoma, Texas A&M and UNLV.

"If you look up winner in the thesaurus, you will see a picture of Terrance Arceneaux. That's what he is. He does all the little things. In all my years of recruiting, I don't know if I have recruited a player that can impact winning in as many ways as he can," Sampson said. "He can block a shot. He can go get a rebound. He can lead the break. He can make a 3. He has an in-between game, a pull-up game. Terrance will really continue to improve here. He just doesn't have a lot of weaknesses."

In the Class 5A state championship game against Kimball High School, Arceneaux drained the game-tying 3-pointer with one second remaining in regulation and then buried the game-winning trey in overtime.

He was recognized as the State Championship Most Valuable Player and was named the Super Gold Player of the Year.

"He has improved so much. As a freshman, he could pull up and shoot. Now, he puts it on the floor. He can post up and hit the fall away jumper. He can do it all. I can put him at the point. He is just all around now. Terrance is the complete package. The sky is the limit for him," Coach David Green said. "Off the court, he is a coach's dream. He just gets it. Everyone wants to talk with him. The kids at the school look up to him. He is just a natural when it comes to dealing with people. He just loves people."
