Quentin Grimes Named The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for week ending Jan. 24

Monday afternoon, Houston Cougars junior guard Quentin Grimes was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Helping lead the Cougars to conference wins over Tulsa and at Temple, Grimes averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Grimes scored 18 points with four 3-pointers and seven rebounds in the Cougars' 86-59 win over Tulsa inside the Fertitta Center and followed that with a 15-point, 9-rebound performance at Temple on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.
Grimes continues to lead the Cougars and moved into second in the American with 17.6 points per game. Grimes also ranks second on the team with 6.7 rebounds per contest and is one of only three players to rank among the league's Top-10 leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
It was the second conference weekly award of his career and his first this season.

Grimes helped lead the Cougars to a pair of league wins last week, averaging 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists. The junior guard recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists against Tulsa and posted 15 points and nine rebounds at Temple.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Moussa Cisse * Center * Memphis
Cisse averaged 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in a pair of Tiger wins last week. The freshman center posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Wichita State and led Memphis is points (15) and rebounds (9) at East Carolina.

Landers Nolley II * Sophomore * Guard * Memphis
Nolley averaged 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two wins for the Tigers last week.
Kendric Davis * Junior * Guard * SMU
Davis led the Mustangs to a road win at UCF with 21 points, nine assists and five rebounds on Saturday (January 23).
Jake Forrester * Junior * Forward * Temple
Forrester posted 15 points, eight rebounds and was 6-of-7 from the field against Houston on Saturday (January 23).
Brandon Rachal * Senior * Guard * Tulsa
Rachal recorded 18 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals against Houston on Wednesday (January 20).
