Cedrick Alley Jr, redshirt-sophomore, has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Alley competed in two games early in the 2017-'18 season before sitting out the rest of the season as a redshirt following a hip injury.

Alley tweeted: "First giving honor to God for giving me the opportunity and ability to play the game I love. I want to thank my family and friends for the support they gave me on this journey at the University of Houston. I want to thank Coach Sampson, the entire coaching staff, my teammates and Coog Nation for letting me be a part of their family for the past 3 years. Houston will forever have a piece of my heart.

With that being said, I have decided to place my name in the transfer portal. Thank you for everything. Coog Forever."

Alley, 6'6", 225, saw action in 62 games for the Houston Cougars including 16 starts in 37 games during the 2018-'19 season. He averaged nearly 18 minutes per game during the '18-'19 season; and, he averaged 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high 19 points on 7 for 11 field goal shooting (including a career-high 5 made threes) on November 24, 2018, on the road, against BYU. Alley added a career-high 6 assists in the game. He was named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week twice his redshirt-freshman season.

Alley's playing time reduced to 9 minutes per game in the 2019-'20 season. He averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebound per game in the 23 games he played.
