Houston Cougars Men's Basketball ranked 6th in Week 5 AP Poll; 7th in USA Today Coaches Poll

For the second consecutive week, the Houston Cougars men's basketball team is ranked 6th in Week 5 of the Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll.

The Cougars (5-0) received 1272 points -- an increase of 103 points -- compared to the 1169 points Houston received in the Week 4 AP poll.

The 6th place ranking is Houston's highest AP ranking since finishing at No 5 in final poll of the 1983-84 season.

During the 2018-19 season, the Coogs appeared in the AP Top 10 for three straight weeks, eventually finishing ranked 11th, after advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984.

The Coogs received 559 points (an increase of 13 points) and moved up 1 spot to 7th in the December 21st USA Today Coaches Poll.

Houston's next game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 22nd, at home versus the Temple Owls. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
