The Houston Cougars Men's Basketball program will face the South Carolina Gamecocks on December 8, in Columbia, SC, as part of the American Athletic Conference's non-conference scheduling alliance with the Southeastern Conference, the league office announced Tuesday.

This will be the first time the Cougars will face the Gamecocks on the hardwood since December 1, 1990, at the Tournament of Championships in Charlotte, NC. South Carolina holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series, which began February 22, 1971.

As part of The American / SEC Alliance, Georgia will play at Memphis; Mississippi will face Wichita State; and SMU takes on Vanderbilt, all on January 4, 2020.

This is the latest addition to the Cougars' 2019-20 schedule. The team will also compete at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic December 22-23 & 25 in Honolulu. That tournament fields includes Ball State, Boise State, Georgia Tech, Portland, UTEP, Washington and host Hawai'i.

In The American play, the Cougars recently learned they will face Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa, UConn, USF and Wichita State in home-and-away games. Houston will meet Tulane and UCF in home games inside the Fertitta Center only while squaring off at ECU and at Temple in road games only.

The team's non-conference schedule will be announced soon with the complete conference schedule, game times and broadcasting networks all coming at a later date.
