Houston Cougars head coach James Dickey says, "July is a very important month."

Houston Cougars head coach James Dickey looks back on his first season at the University of Houston as well as looks ahead to the upcoming 2011-2012 season. In this interview, Coach Dickey discusses the strengths and weaknesses of his returning players to the 2011-2012 season.

Next, Dickey mentions the seven newcomers. Since coaches are not allowed to work with the players during the summer, Dickey said, "We're looking forward to September when we can actually get on the floor. Right now, we can't be around the guys; but, they're doing well academically. They're doing their strenght and conditioning programs. We can't be around them when they're doing physical activities."

Lastly, Dickey discusses the recruiting grind which takes place in the month of July.

"July is a very important month. Twenty days.

"All we can do is observe. There's no contact. You can't talk to players. You can't talk to parents in that time. All you can do is evaluate."
