Houston Stealth Beats Blaze, 98-92

February 12, 2004
On an evening with rare winter-like weather in Houston, the Stealth and Blaze met for the second time in four days. Starters for the Stealth were All Star guard/forward Kelley Gibson, All Star forward Octavia Blue, All Star Guard Tamicha Jackson, Kym Hope, and Beth Record. Starters for the Blaze were All Star guard/forward Jamie Redd, All Star guard Kim Williams, Santia "Tia" Jackson, Tasha Pointer, and Lindsey Yamasaki.

The Stealth controlled the opening tip and scored immediately, and were answered right back by the Blaze. The Stealth then went on an 11 - 0 run to secure a commanding lead. But the Blaze would not roll over, as they came to play too. They tied the score at 33 on a 3-point shot by Palazoglu, but never took the lead. By the end of the first half, the Stealth held a 6 point lead with the score 46 - 40.

Octavia Blue led all scorers at the half with 16 points. Kym Hope was the only other player in double figures with 11. Blue had a very active half, with a 3-point bucket, 3 for 3 free throw shooting, rebounds offensively and defensively, an assist, a block, a steal, and no turnovers and no fouls.

Every single player on the Blaze team scored in the first half. Tugba Palazoglu led the Blaze scoring with 9 points.

The second half saw the Blaze score early and often, but the Stealth kept the pressure on, at one point accumulating a 15 point lead. The Blaze held a 1 point lead for 16 seconds early in the half.

By the end of the game, 4 Stealth players and 4 Blaze players had accumulated double digit scores. Octavia Blue led all scorers with 26 points, followed closely by Kelley Gibson (22), Kym Hope (20), and Tamicha Jackson (18). The high scorer for the Blaze was Jamie Redd (19), followed by Tugba Palazoglu (16), Ilisha Jarrett and Kina Brown each scored 11.

Final score 98-92 Stealth.
