UPDATE, 2/22/10, 10:45 a.m. -- New information on the Big Man's health:
from daughter Angela -- "Dad...will get an upgrade on his pacemaker and get internal defibrillator tomorrow. No open heart surgery!!!! Thank you for the continued prayers as we get him through the procedure tomorrow and hopefully home on Wednesday!!!!"
UPDATE, 2/21/10, 5:30 p.m. -- Angela Curl has offered an update on her dad:
"Dad is getting a cardiac cath done on Monday to check everything out. Possible pacemaker and defibrillator... we will go from there! Please keep him in your prayers!"
UPDATE, 2/19/10, 10:30 a.m. -- Coach Curl will stay in the hospital over the weekend. As his older daughter, Angela, said the doctors "still have to decide what to do". Angela's sister, Jennifer, described their dad's heart as "still very weak so please keep praying".
UPDATE, 2/18/10, 5:40 p.m. -- Coach Curl's defibrillator went off last night; and, he spent the night in the hospital near his house. This evening he's been taken to Methodist hospital. Methodist was the same hospital he was two years ago for his double bypass surgery. Coach will see his cardiologist and wait for further word.
Joe Curl, head coach of the UH women's basketball team, will be discharged from the hospital (in Dallas, TX) and returning to Houston today.
Coach Curl has been in the hospital since Saturday, February 13, when he complained of chest pains. He was unable to coach in Houston's game on Sunday, February 14, versus SMU.
According to his daughter, Angela, Coach Curl "has congestive heart failure, but will be controlled by meds. Has a vest with external defibrillator to get him back to Houston. His cardiologist will have to decide how long he will keep it and when he will need to get an upgrade on his pacemaker and an internal defibrillator."
Coach Curl missed the entire 2007-2008 season when he suffered a heart attack in the preseason. The heart attack required double-bypass surgery.

Kris, this is not good news. :(
Meds can only help so much. Coach Curl should retire and spend the rest of his life with his family.
