3 High School Tournaments Taking Place

UPDATE, 12:05pm, 12/04/09 -- The 26th Annual HISD Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament has been cancelled.

According to the Katy ISD website, all extracurricular activities are cancelled beginning at 3:00 p.m. Friday through 9:00 am Saturday.


Three girls high school tournaments / invitationals will begin later today: the HISD Girls Varsity Basketball Tournament; the Katy ISD Girls Varsity Basketball Tournament; and the CTB National High School Invitational.

The HISD Tournament will be held at 7 venues in the Houston area. Thirty-three teams are competing. The championship game will take place Saturday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m. at Butler Fieldhouse.

The Katy Tournament will be held at 7 venues in the Katy area. Twenty-eight teams are competing. The title game will take place Saturday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Merrell Center.

This year is the first year for the CTB National Invitational which features seven teams. All the games will be played on Texas Southern University's campus inside the H&PE Arena. The championship game will be Saturday, December 5, at 8:30 p.m. at the H&PE.
