Nneka and Kelsey Helped Team USA Win Gold

Bangkok, Thailand -- I want to congratulate Team USA's U19 Women's Team for capturing the gold medal in the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championships with a solid 87 to 71 victory over Spain.

Two players on the U19 USA squad hail from the Houston area -- Nnemkadi (Nneka) Ogwumike (Stanford University, Cy Fair HS) and Kelsey Bone (University of South Carolina, Dulles HS) -- played key roles in the gold medal game.

Ogwumike scored 22 points and pulled down 20 rebounds while Bone added 18 points and six boards.

Ogwumike was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Listen to post-game comments from Nneka and Kelsey.

Congratulations to all of the players as well as U19 head coach Carol Owens (Northern Illinois) and assistant coaches Amanda Butler (Florida) and Bill Fennelly (Iowa State).
