Marla Brumfield joins Clemson Staff
I know this news is late; so, don't kill me.
Congratulations to Marla Brumfield for being hired as a new assistant coach on the Clemson Tigers women's basketball coaching staff. Clemson announced the news on June 25. Marla began the job on June 22.
Brumfield played at Rice University from 1997 to 2000; and, she helped guide the Owls to trips to the WNIT as well as a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2000.
Brumfield joins Cristy McKinney once again. McKinney was head coach at Rice for 12 seasons before being hired at Clemson in 2005. Brumfield was an assistant coach at Rice for two seasons; and, she was the first player from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) to be drafted by the WNBA when the Minnesota Lynx chose her in the 2000 WNBA Draft with the 22nd pick overall.

I am delighted. She was an outstanding player and deserves to move up in the coaching field.
