Busy Valentine's Day

I can't be in two places at once let alone three places; but, I do urge you to check out some women's college basketball on Saturday, February 14. Yes, I know that's Valentine's Day; but, you can see some good basketball; support a good cause; and enjoy yourself as well.

First, the Houston Cougars (16 - 7 overall, 8 - 3 in Conference USA) host the Texas-El Paso Miners (7-4 in C-USA) at Hofheinz Pavilion in a nationally televised basketball. The game will be shown on CBS College Sports Network. UH is undefeated at home and UTEP won the 2008 C-USA regular season title last season.

All fans will be admitted to the contest for only $1 and are encouraged to wear pink.

Second, the Rice Owls hope to "Pack the House Pink" versus Tulane at 2 p.m. The game is a designated PinkZone game as the Women's Basketball Coaching Association is committed to raising breast cancer awareness and funding. Everyone who wears pink to Saturday's game receives half-price admission. Pink t-shirts will also be on sale and all proceeds benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

Lastly, also at 2 p.m., the Texas A&M Aggies host Colorado inside Reed Arena in the "Third Annual BTHO Breast Cancer" Game. Tickets to the game are on sale for $10 with $8 going towards the Kay Yow Foundation. Tickets are priced at $10 for all seating levels in the arena and may be purchased online at www.AggieAthletics.com or by via telephone at 1-888-99-AGGIE.

By the way, if you're wondering, I'll be inside Reed Arena.

Happy Valentine's Day.
