Amazing Streak Ends at 112

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Oklahoma's Courtney Paris said she wasn't sure how to respond to the end of her amazing double-double streak. Courtney had produced a double-double (points and rebounds) in a record-breaking 112 consecutive games before falling just one point (9 points and 12 rebounds) short in Oklahoma's 80 to 70 win over Tennessee Monday night.

"It's just overwhelming," said CP3 fighting back tears after the game. "I came here (to Oklahoma) to win a national championship. In the midst of that time, I've gotten that streak. I've set scoring records. I did all of these other things; and, tonight, I wish I would have played better. But, I realize that we have all the tools we need to do what I really want to do; so, it's just overwhelming and I'm just happy that we beat Tennessee. I'm grateful to have the support that I've had. You have no idea how it feels to hear all those fans chanting my name and to just appreciate the last few years I've had year. It makes me want to just finish off strong for them."

Despite the end to the streak, Courtney admitted a sense of relief.

"Honestly, yea. I was telling (teammate) Carolyn Winchester in the locker room after the game -- 'Carolyn, I don't even know how to feel right now.' But, I feel free. I feel like there's so much pressure off. Gosh! I think the best thing about it is tonight I didn't play the way I wanted to. Tonight, I didn't get in double-figures and we won and we won handily. I'm just so excited about the future of our program and our team."

Courtney's streak served as motivation and inspiration to her twin sister Ashley; and, Ashley shared her thoughts on the end of the streak as well.

"I've been trying to get to four double-doubles," said Ashley. "You guys have been trying to guess how much weight I lost -- some say 50; but, I've lost over 30 pounds to obtain a goal of getting a double-double every game and I can't do it. (Choking up) I know how hard it is just to do that. I'm so proud; and, I'm proud to have it (the streak) on my last name. It's tought. It's hard. It's just unbelievable what she has done."
