Owls' Smart Earns Rookie Honor

HOUSTON, TX -- D'Frantz Smart, Rice Owls freshman guard, was  named the Rookie of the Week by Conference USA on Monday. Smart posted a career-high nine 26 points and nine assists in a 77 to 72 loss to the Texas-Arlington Mavericks on Saturday afternoon. Shorty, all 4'11 3/4" of her, also pulled down a career-best eight rebounds in the ball game.

East Carolina' senior guard LaCoya Terry was named C-USA Player of the Week.
