Taylor was named the C-USA Player of the Week while Button was named the C-USA Rookie of the Week.
Taylor averaged a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in Houston's season-opening wins over Southeast Louisiana, 73-58, and Gardner-Webb, 79-58.
Button averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, while shooting .526 percent (10-of-19) in her Cougar debut.
The Cougars face their first road test of the season this week when they travel to Corvallis, Oregon to face Oregon State on Wednesday. The team is back in action at Hofhienz Pavilion Friday when it hosts Miami in a 7 p.m. contest.
