Van: Pleased for TSU
HOUSTON, TX -- Since I was told "off the record" the name of the new head coach at Texas Southern University, I decided to attend the Touchdown Club of Houston's luncheon today honoring LSU's head football coach Les Miles.
Confused? Don't be. Let me explain.
Van Chancellor, LSU's head women's basketball coach, was scheduled to appear at the luncheon as well. The person expected to be TSU's head coach was an assistant coach on LSU's staff in 2007-2008.
Her name? Let Van tell you:
"I'm really pleased," said Van. "I'm really pleased for two things. I'm really pleased for Texas Southern. I consider myself a Houston boy. They had a women's basketball opening; and, they have hired a person that I recommended very, very strongly for this job -- Yolanda Wells-Broughton. She played in the league (WNBA). She coached at TCU. She coached at the junior-college level. She's ready."
"I think that Texas Southern has made a great, great hire in hiring her for this position. I think that she'll do a tremendous job. She's got class. She knows the game; and, she knows how to recruit."
TSU is expected to make an official announcement very, very soon.

No. Yolanda joined LSU's staff when Van took over last year.

ah, yes, the old "rat" syndrome. sorry, but that's simply idiotic.
If something is going on and you have any moral or ethical fiber, you speak up.
If you don' speak up, if you refuse to take action to protect people or be a responsible member of a community, you post waste like anonymous did.... or wear that idiotic t-shirt that threatens children if they speak out about violence or drugs.
On to basketball tho --- congrats to all involved. Tough to lose an assistant so late -- and mid recruiting season. Hopefully Van can find someone right quick.

Pokey Chatman is responsible for her short fall. Some people are professional excuse makers, everything is some else's fault or doing when they make self-destructive choices. Obviously, "anonymous" fits this decsription.
