Comets at Dream
The Houston Comets (7-9) will try to sweep the regular season series (2-0) tonight (6:05 pm CDT ) with a road win over the Atlanta Dream (0-16).
A few weeks ago, June 16, the Comets defeated the Dream 88 to 79 in Houston. Atlanta's starting backcourt of Betty Lennox (29) and Ivory Latta (21) combined for 50 points in that game.
Michelle Snow led the Comets with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the game. Four other Comets, including forward Tina Thompson (12 points), also scored in double digits. Rookie guards Erica White (10) and Matee Ajavon (12) helped Houston's bench outscore the Dream's bench 32 to 16.
Thompson will be on the Inactive List for tonight's game. This will be the fourth straight game Thompson will sit out due to her fractured left ring finger. The Comets are 2 and 1 without Thompson thus far this season.
Veteran guard Tamecka Dixon (sore Achilles') will be in uniform for tonight's game; but, she will not play.
Yesterday, the Comets announced veteran wing player Mwadi Mabika had successful arthroscopic knee surgery on her right knee to repair a cartilage tear. Mabika is expected to have four to six weeks to complete rehabilitation.
