Comets vs. Mystics

Final: Comets 63, Mystics 67.

The Comets shot 5 for 18 in the fourth quarter while the Mystics shot 7 for 13 from the field. The Mystics took a 65 to 59 lead with 1.42 left in the game then HELD on for the win.

After a foul was called on Mystics' Nikki Blue before the ball was inbounded, Tina Thompson had a chance to pull the Comets within one point (65 to 64) with 10.4 seconds left in the game. But, Thompson missed the free throw. The Comets retained possession; Michelle Snow received the inbound pass; drove to the bucket; and laid up a shot off the glass that rimmed out.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin rebounded the missed shot and was fouled. Taj drained both free throws to ice the game.


End of 3rd Quarter: Comets 53, Mystics 44.

11 more turnovers in the third period. The Mystics took a brief lead 35 to 34 on a three-pointer by Monique Currie. Houston's Matee Ajavon scored seven points at the end of the third quarter; and, they were all on jump shots -- including a three pointer!

The Comets are still shooting 50% (21 for 42) from the field for the game.
The Mystics are at 39.0% (16 for 41).

Alana Beard has 19 points to lead all scorers. Hamchetou Maiga-Ba's 13 leads the Comets.


Halftime: Comets 34, Mystics 30.

Twenty-two turnovers combined in the first half!

The Comets made 50% (14 for 28) from the field; but, only lead by four points.

Mystics' Alana Beard leads all scorers with 12 points buts she's only 4 for 11 from the field.

Washington's 4 for 5 shooting from the three-point line has kept them in this low-scoring game.
