Final score: Comets 75, Fever 61. Fourth straight win for the Comets. Second straight without Tina Thompson.
The Comets (7-8) outscored the Fever (7-8) 21 to 14 in the final period; but, the quarter was more decisive than that. Houston limited the Fever to just one field goal (a deep three-point shot by center Allison Bales) for the first six plus minutes of the period.
Matee Ajavon led all scorers with a career-high 24 points (7 for 14 from the field and 9 for 13 from the foul line). Ajavon's 24 points ties the Comets' Rookie Record of 24 set by Tina Thompson on July 29, 1997, versus the Cleveland Rockers.
Sancho Lyttle (subbing for Tina Thompson who sat out the game due to a fractured left ring finger) scored 15 points; grabbed 10 reboundds; and picked up six steals. Michelle Snow added 12 points; six rebounds; and three assists. Hamchetou Maiga-Ba added 10 points and four boards.
Indy was led by 13 points from Tammy Sutton-Brown. The Fever shot 20 for 50 (40%) for the game. The Fever simply could not take care of the basketball. They committed 26 turnovers which the Comets converted into 29 points.
Houston dominated the paint -- 36 to 16; and, scored 14 fast break points to just seven for the Fever.

The game is getting physical and a bit chippy. Indy's Ebony Hoffman was ejected for arguing with referee Kurt Walker.
11 fouls were called in the quarter.
Ajavon scored six points in the period. She now has 21 for the game. She needs four more points to set a new Comets' rookie record for points in a game. Tina Thompson currently holds the record with 24 points.
The Fever have 23 turnovers; so, the fact they're still in the game is a plus for them.
Latasha Byears checked into the game for the Comets; and, a few seconds later, she bobbled the ball and missed a gimmee lay up.

After leading 29 to 14, the Comets gave up nine straight points to the Fever; but, Matee Ajavon helped end Indy's run. Ajavon capped off the first-half scoring with a fast-break lay-up after stealing the ball from Indiana' LaToya Bond at half court.
Ajavon (5 for 8 from the field, 4 for 4 from the foul line) leads all scorers with 15 points. The Comets have 10 assists on 16 (out of 33 attempts) made field goals.
Tammy Sutton-Brown and Tully Bevilaqua lead the Fever with seven points a piece.
Indy turned the ball over 15 times in the first half. The Comets had nine first half steals.
