Comets Home Opener Sold Out

The Houston Comets today announce a sellout of 7,261 tickets in the team’s new home, Reliant Arena, for the home opener on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. against the Minnesota Lynx.

The Houston Comets’ May 27 home opener is “First Fan Night” and promises to be one of the most exciting games of the season. Special events for that night include an unveiling of the team’s four WNBA Championship banners in addition to the retired jerseys of two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player Cynthia Cooper and Kim Perrot, whose jersey is the first-ever retired by the league.

WNBA President Donna Orender is scheduled to attend the game and, during a halftime presentation, honor the first fans to enter the arena that night.

It's very nice to see them sell out because I was afraid they might have 2 or 3,000 like last year.

While it's a good thing, the glass is half full.

This sellout is less than the half full large AT&T Center attendance figure for the Silver Stars home opener.

I'm not starting a feud between these two teams but simply follow the Stars and giving a reality check here.

There sure were a lot of empty seats in that sold out arena last night ......

If there was a sell out as advertised, a lot of fans were disguised as orange (empty) seats. My guess... about 30% of the seats were empty.

As a season ticket holder,I'm starting to take on a new attitude.

Don't believe much of what you hear from the Comets front office.

I was there. If the game was a sell out as advertised, a lot of fans were disguised as empty seats. I wonder if Hilton K was able to convince Donna O that the fans were there.... you just couldn't see them!?!?
