TCU's Adrianne Ross
TAMPA BAY -- Adrianne Ross helped lead TCU to the Women's National Invitational Tournament this post - season. Ross received an invitation to the WNBA's Pre-Draft camp. The 5'8 shooting guard helped her cause with her performance at the camp.
HRR: When did you know you had been invited to the pre-draft camp/
AR: I found out Tuesday. We finished playing Sunday night. We had Monday off. I got a call from Coach Mittie (head coach Jeff Mittie) around 9 am. I said 'cool'.
HRR: Were you surprised to get invited?
AR: I talked to a lot of my friends that were going to be at the camp; so, I was kind of waiting on the call. I felt like my career was 'up to par'. I'm grateful to be here. I know they're a ton of people that aren't here. I'm grateful. I'm not surprised.
HRR: Did Coach Mittie offer any advice on what to expect at camp?
AR: He told me 'Don't got out there like it's an And-1 game. Go out there and have fun. Play defense. Don't look to shoot every time because everyone is.' Everyone knows I'm a scorer; and, they've seen me playing over the years or else I wouldn't be here.' Pretty much to have fun; and, that's what I'm doing.
HRR: Describe the process for me.
AR: We got here and we took our physicals. We had the media stuff and all that. We got to know each other and hang out. Then, we had the two-a-day session and play basketball pretty much and that's what we all do. It's been a lot of fun.
HRR: How did you do Friday?
AR: I didn't pass with flying colors; but, I don't think anyone out here was trying to dominate; so, I'll say in that aspect, I'll say I did well. I'm out here hustling. I'm not taking any plays off.
HRR: Have you received any input regarding where you may go in the Draft?
AR: No. They're so many mock drafts out there. The main thing is to stay focused and not get caught up in the speculation and keep your fingers crossed and see what happens.
