No Coop to TSU
Cynthia Cooper will not leave Prairie View A&M University and become the next head coach of the Texas Southern University women's basketball team.
Last week, The HRR reported Cooper could be named the head coach of the Lady Tigers in a matter of days.
TSU will honor the contract signed by Surina Dixon and interim AD Johnny Cole making Dixon the Lady Tigers head coach. Dixon was the head coach at Lane College -- where Cole was the head football coach -- two seasons ago. Dixon coached high school basketball in the 2007 - 2008 season.
Former Praire View A&M athletics director, Charles McClelland was named TSU's Athletics Director during the period Cole, as interim AD, signed Dixon to a three-year contract. Cole will now continue his role as the new head coach of the Tigers football team.
