Ags Season Ends in E8
A fantastic season came to an end for the Texas A&M Aggies tonight in the NCAA's Elite Eight.
The second-seeded Aggies lost to top-seeded Tennessee 53 to 45 in Oklahoma City.
Despite her left shoulder "popping out" twice, Tennessee's Candace Parker scored a game-high 26 points to help her team earn the win.
Tennessee's, Alexis Hornbuckle, senior guard, swished a deep three-point shot as the shot clock expired to put the Lady Vols ahead 48 to 43 with 50 seconds remaining in the game.
"I’m just so proud of this basketball team," Gary Blair, Aggies head coach, said. "When you look at the eight schools that were left, this is the way it should be.
"High school seniors should realize that they should go to the school that best fits their talent and opportunity. There are a lot of schools that you can live your dream out at, especially Texas A&M. These seniors are so special. They believed in us first. I want them to be successful in life. We had every intention to win this basketball game. Our last two (NCAA Tournament) games, we didn’t leave our best game on the floor. Tonight, we left our best game on the floor, but just didn’t execute. We gave people around the country a new team to root for. It’s time to spread it around."
