Sooners at Aggies
I know tonight's Oklahoma Sooners - Texas A&M Aggies match-up will air on FSN (7:30pm CST); but, I decided to drive to College Station and see the game in person.
I drove through pouring rain the entire way here. Rain; rain; go away!
I'm at Reed Arena; and, I get word the Houston Comets acquired Megan Mahoney from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for Barb Turner. Interesting move.
Back to tonight's HUGE game.
This game is huge for both teams because a first-round bye in next week's Big 12 Conference Tournament is on the line.
If OU wins…
…Oklahoma will be the No. 3 seed.
…and OSU wins, OSU will be the No. 4 seed and Texas A&M will be the No. 5 seed.
…and OSU loses, Texas A&M will be the No. 4 seed and OSU will be the No. 5 seed.
If Texas A&M wins…
…and OSU wins, OSU is the No. 3 seed and A&M is the No. 4 seed.
…and OSU loses, A&M is the No. 3 seed and Oklahoma is the No. 4 seed.
In the Big 12 Tournament…
…the No. 5 seed plays the No. 12 seed in the first round. The winner of that game plays the No. 4 seed in the second round.
…the No. 3 seed plays the winner of the No. 6/No. 11 game.
In addition to those scenarios, tonight is Senior Night for five Aggies: Morenike Atunrase (Shreveport, La.), A’Quonesia Franklin (Tyler, Texas), LaToya Gulley (Fayetteville, Ark.), Katy Pounds (Shallowater, Texas) and Patrice Reado (Houston, Texas).
Since their freshman campaign in 2004-05, A&M has posted a total of 38 league victories over the last four years combined.
Oklahoma is 21 and 6 overall and 11 and 4 in conference while A&M is 22 and 7 overall and 10 and 5 in Big 12 play.
Tonight's game should be a good one.
