Comets Waive T-Mo and Tari

According to the WNBA.com's "2007 WNBA Transactions Page":

July 1 The Houston Comets waive Tamara Moore and Tari Phillips.

The Comets have not sent a press release, yet; but, these two cuts should lead to a signing of at least one player (re: Tamecka Dixon). Dixon was waived January 11, 2007, much to the chagrin of head coach Karleen Thompson. Though Thompson was not named coach and general manager until February 14, 2007, she was not thrilled with the decision to waive Dixon.

Due to league rules, Dixon could not be re-signed until July 1st at the earliest. Rumors have swirled for months Dixon would return to the Comets. With today's waivers, perhaps Dixon's return is indeed imminent.

Personally, I'm not sure how much Dixon's presence on the team will improve the Comets' 4 - 12 record.

I'm willing to reserve judgment on what Dixon herself can bring to the Comets this season if this turns out to be true, but I really question KT's stubborn determination to bring Dixon back from the very beginning of her tenure here, knowing it couldn't happen before the season was halfway over. We have seen in past seasons that it is unwise to mess with whatever chemistry the team has built up over the first few months playing together (see 2005 & 2006 for recent examples).

I think we probably lost out on some good players because KT kept holding a place for Dixon (if rumors are true). It's hard to see how this was in the best interests of the team and the franchise. We're 4-12, right? And just starting to show some stability and teamwork. So let's throw a big wrench into that and mess with the chemistry again.

Another homegirl from LA huh? What is really going on with my team. I love TD, don't get me wrong but I would rather have Arcain than her. Oh wait, Arcain did not play for the Sparks. I hear Jackie Stiles is available.
