Comets sign Tamecka

One of the worst kept secrets in the WNBA came true today as the Houston Comets announced the signing of guard Tamecka Dixon.

Since she was waived by the Comets (January 11, 2007), many WNBA fans, Comets' fans, and people "in the know" about the "W" stated Dixon would be re-signed by the Comets when July 1 arrived. Well, yesterday, the Comets made room for Dixon by waiving guard Tamara Moore and center / forward Tari Phillips.

Dixon's signing was imminent. Today, her signing became official.

As the WNBA's second half of the regular season is just days away, I still do not believe Tamecka (I assume she's healthier than she was last season with the Comets) will greatly improve upon the Comets' current 4 and 12 record.

Of course, I have been wrong before.

Did we have to cut 2 people for her, or is another person coming? I'm going to assume, since Tari hasn't been suiting up, she and the team knew this was coming. Is it true Dixon has been practising with the team? Has she been with them, practising since day one, I wonder? I hope you are wrong! I hope Dixon, along with SS is what this team has been holding out for!

The Comets are extremely quiet about their personnel moves.

Since I haven't been to practice, I don't know if Tamecka has been practicing with the team. If she had been practicing with them, I wonder if she was on the "scout team" because beyond her doing that, I wonder if her practicing would be legal according to the rules of the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement.
