Too many minutes

After last night's Comets win (95 - 85) over Washington, during the post-game press conference, I asked Karleen Thompson if she would like to limit Tina Thompson's minutes. Without quoting Karleen, her answer was "yes."

After interviewing Sancho Lyttle and Tamara Moore in the lockerroom, I spoke to Tina (off the record). Basically, I talked with Tina to make sure she was okay.

Out of her laundry list of nagging injuries, Tina's left ankle is bothering her the most; and, she does not want to play an entire game too much longer.

While watching the game I noticed Tina's heavy tape and bandages. But what was not as obvious was the way she led while on the floor. I saw her talking to the younger players throughout the game. It seemed she was in a position to explain what should have happened after each turnover or misstep. She has been priceless during the wins, and as always one of my favorites. Maybe the confidence she lends to her teammates will last long enough for her to rest a bit.

I'm glad you asked the question, Kris.

Now please ask her why Mistie Williams isn't getting playing time?

    Thanks.
