Ags - UH Softball

Updated May 20: The Aggies won Saturday night to face UH Sunday afternoon. Since the tournament is double-elimination, the Aggies had to defeat the Cougars twice Sunday in order to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals. A&M did just that. The Aggies defeated UH 13 to 2 (10-run rule enforced) in the first game and followed that victory with a 5-0 shutout in the final game of the Regional tournament.

Yep, the title is right. This post is not about basketball. It's about softball. The Houston Cougars and the Texas A&M Aggies in regional action of the 2007 NCAA Softball Championship. Both teams won yesterday; so, this game is the winners bracket side of the double-elimination regional.

Coogs don't score; thanks to a base running mistake by Laurie Wagner. Wagner reached second; Shamblin popped up near the pitching mound. The ball was not caught; allowing Shamblin to reach first. However, Wagner for some reason starting running to third and was caught in a run down.

    Coogs win 8 to 1.

UH stays in the winners bracket and will play tomorrow at 1pm. The Coogs only need to one time tomorrow to advance to the NCAA Super Regional.

For whatever reason, if they lose the 1pm game, they'll play in a winner-takes-all game which will start 30 minutes after the end of Game 6.

Congrats to the Coach Holas and her team!

    Back to H-town...
