Wieben and Plumley Honored by Big 12
Nicky Wieben (Iowa State) was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Jenna Plumley (Oklahoma) was chosen Rookie of the Week by a media voting panel for games from Feb. 12-18. Both were honored for the first time in their careers.

Nicky Wieben, Iowa State, F, 6-4, So, Ankeny, Iowa
Wieben led Iowa State to wins over 13th-ranked Texas A&M and Colorado last week as she averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2 blocks. She hit 14-of-18 shots from the floor (.788) and went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. The Ankeny, Iowa, native poured in 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds while hitting 7-of-9 field goal attempts in the win over Texas A&M. Her blocked shot also put her in sole possession of second place on the Iowa State career chart in just her sophomore season. Against Colorado, Wieben went for 18 points, including 11 in the first half, four rebounds and three blocked shots. The Cyclones’ leading scorer has been in double figures in 19 games this season, including five of the last six.

Jenna Plumley, Oklahoma, PG, 5-4, Fr, Red Rock, Okla.
In the first two starts of her career, Plumley averaged 16.5 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 4.5 three-pointers in wins over Texas and Texas Tech last week. Plumley broke or reset 12 career single game highs in the two contests. The Red Rock, Okla., native capped the breakout week with 22 crucial points in OU’s 70-67 win at TTU. The outburst marked just the second time this season that Courtney Paris did not lead OU in scoring. Plumley tied a Sherri Coale era record with six 3s on eight attempts against the Lady Raiders. In her first career start against Texas, Plumley tallied 11 points, eight assists, five steals and four rebounds. Her final statistical line was the best by a Sooner point guard this season. Her eight assists was also a Sooner high in conference play in 2007. The 5-4 guard shot 58.8 percent from the field (10-17) and 64.3 percent (9-14) from 3-point range. She also finished the week with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.67.

Congrats to Wieben and Plumley.
I know Plumley was very impressive when I saw her at College Station taking on Franklin and the Aggies. She did well and nice to see a player take advantage of their opportunity. Keep up the good work!
