UAB’s Diamond Rogers recorded a pair of double-doubles over the weekend to lead the Blazers to a pair of road wins and remain in a tie for first-place in the conference standings.
In UAB's 73-69 overtime win at East Carolina Thursday, Rogers put up a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while flirting with a triple-double with a career-best seven steals. Rogers tallied five of UAB's 10 points in the overtime period, including a key 3-pointer with 1:29 left to tie the game at 69. She followed that with a jumper with 33 seconds remaining to give UAB a two-point lead, 71-69. Rogers' seven steals against the Pirates was the most by a Blazer this season.
On Saturday, Rogers gained another double-double, her second in three days and third in a week, with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in UAB's 62-55 win over Marshall. Rogers sank four from beyond the arc on her way to her 17th double figure scoring game of the season, and her sixth in a row. She also tallied three assists, two steals and a pair of blocks against the Thundering Herd.
Rogers is averaging 15.4 ppg, which ranks seventh in the league, and a team-high 7.8 rpg, which is fifth-best in the conference. She also ranks first in 3-point field goal percentage (.494) and sixth in 3-point field goals made with 2.00 per contest.
