OU's Paris' Double-Double Streak Reaches One Year Mark
On Tuesday, December 5, 2006, Oklahoma Sooners sophomore center, Courtney Paris' double-double (points and rebounds) streak will be one year old. Paris has collected a double-double in 34 straight games dating back to Dec. 5, 2005. The streak began with a 24 point, 22 rebound performance against UCLA on Dec. 5, 2005.
No other player in Division I basketball can claim such a streak. And while the NCAA does not keep records on double-doubles, it is believed that very few, if any, have ever had such a streak.
Below are accomplishments and milestones achieved during the streak:
1 - Triple-double (18 points, 13 rebounds, 10 blocks vs. Texas Tech, 3-1-06).
2 - Big 12 Championships, one regular season, one postseason.
4 - Games with 20 or more rebounds.
8 - Double-doubles that have been posted by opponents during the streak.
11 - Double-doubles that Paris has recorded in an individual half.
11.3 - The average rebounding advantage OU held in the 34 games.
12.5 - The average scoring advantage OU held in those 34 games.
20 - Active streak of consecutive regular season wins for Oklahoma.
21 - Games with 20 or more rebounds.
21 - Games with 15 or more rebounds.
25 - The next closest double-double total over the last 365 days belongs to LSU's Sylvia Fowles.
29.2 - Average minutes per game for Paris during streak.
30 - Wins for Oklahoma.
33 - The OU and Big 12 single season record for double-doubles that Paris’ posted in 2005-06.
41 - Number of games LSU’s Sylvia Fowles needed to reach her 25 double-doubles in the last year.
365 - Days since the start of the streak.
367 - Days since she the last time she did not record a double-double (vs. Oral Roberts, 12/3/05).
533 - Paris’ rebound total, an NCAA high and an average of 15.6 per game.
751 - Paris’ point total, an average of 22.0 per game.
Kudos to OU's Chris Freet for compiling this list.
