Neaves Named C-USA Player of the Week

Rice’s Lauren Neaves averaged a double-double last week. Neaves was credited with 18.7 ppg and 14.3 rpg in Rice’s 2-1 week. The senior also contributed 3.3 blocks and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 57.5 percent (23-of-40) from the field and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the charity stripe for the week.

She also had five blocked shots, two assists and shot 56.3 percent from the field (9-of-16) for her 41st career DD. The win over Texas A&M was Rice’s first victory over a top-10 program since defeating Louisiana Tech in 2002. It also marked C-USA’s first win over a ranked team this season.
