Rockets sign Rookie Jermaine Taylor
HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Rockets signed rookie shooting guard Jermaine Taylor to a multi-year contract today. Taylor, the 32nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, was selected by the Washington Wizards; however, the Rockets acquired the draft rights to him in exchange for cash considerations.
Terms of the contract are reportedly a two-year deal worth $1.5 M plus team options on the third and fourth years.
The contract terms are similar to the terms signed by NBA rookies selected in the first round.
In his senior season, Taylor, 6'4", 210, was named Conference USA Player of the Year in 2008 - 2009. Taylor averaged 26.2 points per game on 48.0% fg, 37.6% 3-pt fg, and 81.2% ft.
