Yao in the Low Post

HOUSTON, TX -- For whatever reason, the Houston Rockets continue having a very difficult time getting the ball to Yao Ming in the low post versus the Portland Trailblazers in this first round playoff series.

Yao has attempted just 13 shots combined in Games 2 and 3. I just don't understand the problem. Yes, the Rockets lead the Blazers 2 to 1; but, I believe the Rockets need to get Yao more shots in order to win this series and advance to the second round.

Here's Yao's take on his lack of shots.

"I think we still need to find a way to get me the ball in the low post. That's where I'm effective. Right now, there are a lot of different defenses coming at me."

After Game 3, Yao said, "I feel there were a couple of times where I was open in the middle of the paint and, obviously from my standpoint, I was open but maybe from the perimeter, it looked like it was too crowded to pass me the ball."

That's very diplomatic, Yao, but he's right. He was open in the low post many times in Game 3 and his teammates failed to pass him the ball.

That needs to change -- starting with Game 4 tonight. Tip is set for 8 p.m.

I agree Kris. I think it is interesting that RA says "Yao has to figure out how to get open". Excuse me! If that is the case then why do we need a coach? I thought it was the coaching staffs job to "figure out how to get Yao open"...and then run it!

All the years RA has been here, I still question his coaching. JMHO, how far the Rockets go into the playoff will depend on the coaching. We have the talent, but I'm still not sold we have the right coach.
