Wheatley vs. JY

This past Saturday, I was one of the 8,000 plus people inside TSU's H&PE Arena watching undefeated Strake Jesuit play Madison in a boys' high school playoff game. Strake remained undefeated with the 69 to 57 victory over the Tommy Mason - led Marlins.

However, after the game, many of my media colleagues were discussing and lamenting the possibility of a location for a different upcoming playoff game.

When I left H&PE Saturday night, I was told the March 4th battle between the 32 and 4 Wheatley Wildcats and the 29 and 1 Jack Yates Lions was going to take place at tiny Barnett Fieldhouse. We were all dreaded that because there is no way 3,000 (maybe) seat Barnett could accomodate the thousands of fans expected to attend this HUGE rivalry game.

Fortunately, smarter heads have prevailed; and, the game will now be held at H&PE. H&PE Arena seats about 8,500; and, honestly, the arena still may not be big enough to hold everybody.

Tip is set for 8 p.m. Get there early. Trust me.
