Rockets sign Greene
HOUSTON, TX -- Monday the Houston Rockets announced the signing of rookie forward Donté Greene to a multi-year contract. As usual, per team policy, financial terms were not released. Greene, who was picked 28th overall by the Grizzlies in the 2008 NBA Draft, had his draft rights acquired by Houston along with Memphis’ 2009 second-round pick for the draft rights to Darrell Arthur (27th overall).
Greene scored 40 points (12 for 20 from the field, 11 for 12 on free throws) in a 100 to 97 Rockets win over the Phoenix Suns in Las Vegas Summer League action. Mike Harris added 21 points and 13 rebounds while rookie forward Maarty Leunen scored 16 points. Aaron Brooks scored 13 points; but, Brooks also added nine personal fouls (no fouls out in NBA Summer League) and six turnovers.
The Chronicle's Jonthan Feigen also reported the Rockets agreed to release center Loren Woods.
