From T.C.: Spurs at Rockets

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker will not play in tonight's Rockets - Spurs game due to a strained left hip flexor he suffered during Friday night's game versus the Orlando Magic. Jacque Vaughn will start in Parker's place at point guard.

The Spurs (40 - 18) have lost to the Rockets (36 - 22) twice during three regular season match-ups this season.

Nov. 14, 2006: Spurs 92, Rockets 84.
Dec. 22, 2006: Rockets 97, Spurs 78.
Jan. 24, 2007: Rockets 90, Spurs 85.

awful first quarter by the Rockets -- nine turnovers; 26.7% (4 for 15) from the field. 15 points.

The Spurs shot lights out -- 11 for 15 (73.3%).

second quarter was much better. The Rockets cut down the turnovers, just three, and the Spurs cooled off -- 8 for 20 while Houston shot 10 for 17 (58.8%).

This game is far from over.

The Spurs are kicking Rockets' butt, yet, Tim Duncan just picked up his first rebound of the ball game one minute ago.

64 - 46, Spurs. I have no idea why JVG is not having Juwan Howard guard Duncan. Mutombo can't do it. Tsakalidis can't guard Duncan. Chuck Hayes can't do it. Come on, Jeff. Juwan is the best bet to make Timmy work on offense.

Duncan is in a zone; but, more importantly, the Rockets are struggling on offense which is impacting their defense.

stats can be misleading: the Rockets are outrebounding the Spurs -- only because the Spurs are shooting 61.4% (27 for 44) from the field while the Rockets are shooting 43.2% (19 for 44) from the field.

Though the game is a rout, there are plenty of fans disguised as empty seats.

Even with a serious comeback, I'm sure JVG is going to be a lot of fun during the post game.

Spurs lead 77 to 56 with 3 minutes left in the third.

T-Mac played seven minutes this quarter and took just one shot. He's now sitting on the bench.

Kirk Snyder has played 15 minutes thus far tonight; and, he's 3 for 6 from the field; 3 for 3 from the ft line for nine points. He's also got four rebounds.

15 Rockets turnovers, and counting have led to 20 Spurs points.

scratch what I said earlier...this game is over.

    Spurs 81, Rockets 59. End of 3.

And to think, Tony Parker has sat out this game with a strained left hip flexor.

I didn't see this blowout loss by the Rockets coming tonight. I guess I should have gone to Hofheinz instead.

Old Man Michael Finley is playing like a young fella tonight. He's 5 for 8 from the field for 12 points.

You know it's a long night for the Rockets because Spurs guard Beno Udrih has scored nine points of 3 for 5 shooting. Heck, Udrih has more rebounds (3) tonight than Dikembe Mutombo (2).

Billy Spanoulis started the fourth quarter for the Rockets. My goodness JVG is desperate.

Timeout on the floor, 8:41 left in the game (thank goodness). Spurs lead the Rockets 86 to 62.

    turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.

Even Clutch committed a turnover by coming on the court at the wrong time. He thought a timeout had been called. No timeout, Clutch. Oops.

5:01 left. Does the score really matter?

Ain't this something? My first time sitting courtside all season; and, the Rockets picked this game to SUCK!

Oh well, at least I'm having fun blogging from courtside.

    Kris...

We left the game during the third quarter...after a ref called a blocking foul an offensive foul on Battier in the third, we left. It is sad that the fans, both Spurs and Rockets, showed up, but the Rockets and the refeeres did not.

And the Spur's fans were Rowdy!

The "Big Fundemental" was on tonight...I looked up at the board and he had 10 of the Spurs first 14 points in the first quarter. The Spurs were shooting 89% for the first 8 minutes of the first quarter.

BTW: Kris I saw you walking to your seat at the end of halftime...you had a great seat...right behind the announcers. Congratulations.
