Rice Owls get a verbal from Williams
The Rice Owls have picked up a verbal commitment from Jasen Williams. RCS Sports (www.RCSSports.com) is reporting Williams a 6'1", guard from Nimitz HS chose Rice over Tulane, Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, and Southeast Louisiana. The decision came within hours after Williams and his parents took an official visit to the campus.
Within a four month span, Williams went from basically unknown around the entire state and barely a top 50 listing in the city to recently earning a #49 statewide listing from Texashoops.com and #15 among the entire Greater Houston area by RCS Sports.
According to Jim Hicks of RCS Sports, Williams' commitment is the 11th thus far from the Greater Houston area. Last year, a record 40 players from the Greater Houston area received scholarships to Division I colleges / universities.
